Posted on May 26, 2021

When you call The Highlands at Wyomissing home, you’re opening the door to endless opportunities for enjoyment, fulfillment and enrichment. But that’s not all.

“We’re a community designed with your future in mind,” says Kevin DeAcosta, President and CEO of The Highlands at Wyomissing, the only nonprofit Life Care Community in Berks County, PA. “As a Life Care Community, we provide comprehensive healthcare to our residents, allowing them to always have a home with us even if their health needs change. We’re structured in a way that residents are protected against rising healthcare costs as well, which provides peace of mind for them and their families. It’s all part of our promise of enhancing the lives of senior adults and providing a retirement experience beyond expectations.”

As a Type A Life Care Community, Kevin explains, the community is there for residents at every point of aging. “Whether you’re an active, independent adult, require Short-Term Rehabilitation services or even if you eventually need Memory Support, you’ll always have a compassionate, knowledgeable staff who will treat you like the family member you are.”

For more than 30 years, The Highlands at Wyomissing has been the only senior living community in Berks County to offer a Type A Life Care contract. This means that when you make The Highlands your home, you won’t ever need to move away. “Instead, we promise to be there for you when you need us,” Kevin says. “You’ll be able to continue your current lifestyle, visiting with friends and enjoying the activities you love so you can live the best life possible.”

Our building has been specially designed to increase residents’ connectivity to the natural environment. Is Life Care Right for You?

When you choose to make your move to The Highlands at Wyomissing, you choose the many benefits Life Care facilities hold, such as healthcare and an active lifestyle among friends. While you may not think you’re ready to move or that you’ll need higher levels of care in the future, having a plan in place provides peace of mind for you and your family for years to come.

We offer two types of Life Care contracts at The Highlands. Both options offer different benefits to appeal to different individuals’ needs.

Comprehensive/Life Care (Type A)
Type A (Comprehensive/Life Care) contracts offer housing, services, amenities and, most importantly, unlimited healthcare at the same monthly service fee. If and when Personal Care is required, it is provided in a studio accommodation. Skilled Nursing is provided in a semi-private accommodation.

Modified (Type B)
Type B (Modified) contracts offer housing, services, amenities and limited healthcare. Single occupants receive 60 Personal Care and 60 Skilled Nursing days in a lifetime. Double occupants receive shared 90 Personal Care and 90 Skilled Nursing days in lifetime. Just like with Type A, Personal Care days are provided in a studio accommodation, while Skilled Nursing days are provided in a semi-private accommodation.

“At The Highlands at Wyomissing, our goal is to help you live a perfect life now and in the future,” says Kevin. “Whether you choose an all-encompassing program, fee-for-service or somewhere in between, we are here for you during every step of the way.”
